When someone we love faces serious illness, we often feel helpless. Creating a legacy project transforms that helplessness into something beautiful. These special keepsakes capture who the person is and what matters most to them.
What Are Legacy Projects?

Legacy projects preserve stories, wisdom, and love for future generations. Each project is unique to the person creating it.
Legacy projects can include:
- Video messages for family members or future milestones
- Memory books with photos, letters, and stories
- Audio recordings of favorite songs or spoken memories
- Written letters for birthdays, holidays, or when comfort is needed
- Collections of life lessons and family values
- Recipe collections with stories behind each dish
- Handprint art or scent memory jars
- Ethical wills share values and wisdom
No two legacy projects are the same. We design each one around what matters most to the person and what time allows.
Why Legacy Projects Bring Peace
Research shows that creating legacy projects helps people feel less anxious about death. The process heals, opens conversations, and brings families closer together.
For families, these projects become priceless reminders. They provide comfort for years to come.
Creating something together gives everyone a sense of purpose. Instead of only focusing on loss, we celebrate the life being lived.
How We Work Together
We’ve created a simple two-phase process that makes legacy work manageable and meaningful.
Phase 1: Creating Your Legacy Project Map
This phase is about listening and planning. We take time to understand the current situation and what the person wants to preserve.
During Phase 1, we:
- If available, we review the most recent hospice prognosis. If not, we speak with caregivers and family members to understand the situation.
- Discuss the person’s history, travels, dreams, and what they want to share.
- Recommend three specific legacy projects if time is limited. We explore all options if more time is available.
- Create a detailed Legacy Project Map with clear steps, realistic timelines, and needed materials.
The Legacy Project Map is specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-based. It makes a big task feel manageable.
This planning ensures we create the right project—one that truly reflects the person’s story and fits the available time.
Phase 2: Bringing the Legacy to Life
Once the Legacy Project Map is approved, we begin creating. This is where we bring the plan to life.
During Phase 2, we:
- Follow the step-by-step instructions from the map
- Capture high-quality video, audio, or photographs
- Guide conversations with gentle support
- Create beautiful finished projects
- Provide emotional support throughout
We handle the technical details. Families can focus on being present and creating meaningful moments together.
What Makes Our Approach Different
Peter Abraham combines years of hospice nursing with professional skills in photography and videography. This unique combination means technical expertise and a deep understanding of what families need.
More importantly, we give what most healthcare workers cannot: time. We carefully choose our clients so we’re never overwhelmed. We’re there when needed, spending whatever time is necessary.
We provide not just technical help but emotional support. The goal is to make the experience peaceful and healing while capturing the person’s heart and spirit.
Types of Legacy Projects
Video Messages: Personal recordings where the person shares stories, gives advice, or speaks to family members. These can be created for specific occasions or people.
Memory Books: Collections of photos, letters, and written memories. These become family treasures passed down through generations.
Audio Recordings: Collections of favorite songs, bedtime stories, or spoken memories. These preserve the sound of a loved one’s voice.
Letter Writing Projects: Written messages for future milestones, holidays, or everyday encouragement. Family members can open these when they need comfort.
Recipe Collections: Family recipes with stories behind each dish preserve not just food but memories and traditions.
Ethical Wills: Letters that share values, life lessons, and hopes for loved ones. These pass down spiritual and emotional inheritance.
Creative Projects: Memory quilts, handprint art, scent jars, or other meaningful keepsakes designed around personal interests.
Each project is designed around what time allows and what matters most to the person.
We Don’t Do This Alone
Creating a legacy project can feel overwhelming when dealing with illness and stress. Having someone with experience makes it easier and more meaningful.
We can create something special, whether months, weeks, or days are available. Something that honors the story and comforts those left behind.
Legacy projects give meaning to our remaining time together. They help people facing illness feel purposeful, reminding them that their lives have mattered and will continue to matter.
We offer sliding scale fees so families can get the support they need, no matter their budget. See our pricing options here.
